What Could A Motivational Speaker Do For You?

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

When it comes to organising any even the type of speaker to choose requires a lot of thought. Is it worth opting for the popular choice of a motivational speaker? It really depends on the type of event and the speaker you choose, but they certainly can be.

You can find an array of different types of people who work as motivational speakers, celebrities, sports stars, academics and any type of ‘expert’ you care to name. This makes your selection all the more difficult, and all the more important.

There are motivational speakers who are experts in their field of business and who have perhaps written a book or two. They may not have the status of a celebrity per se, but providing you have chosen them carefully, they are likely to be well known and well respected amongst your audience. Speakers like these can often endorse new business systems which you may be implementing at the time of the event. The speaker will most probably be able to draw on positive examples and success stories which will motivate and inspire the audience. You may consider using a speaker like this to help motivate people to adopt your way of thinking.

Other motivational speakers are well known for their success but aren’t necessarily experts in a field. These pseudo-celebrities often have heart-warming stories of success or courage in the face of adversity. This sort of person shouldn’t be written off though. Being living proof that ‘anyone can do it’ can be a motivation. Their potential lack of authority may mean they aren’t the best choice for corporate events. But this certainly doesn’t mean they don’t work. Their personal stories still have motivational value for events such as graduations and weight loss groups.

Finally, sports men and women are frequently employed as motivational speakers. They can motivate using stories of hard work leading to success. Speakers like these are versatile and can be used at almost any type of event.

Become Inspired

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

Along with determination and belief is being enthusiastic about your goal. Everything that happens along the way is another joyous milestone, taking you one more step closer to success. Enthusiasm adds to your positive perspective and affirms your personal motivation in the outcome.

Enthusiasm comes from inspiration. Inspiration comes from knowledge and enrichment of the mind, while ignorance fosters and intensifies fear. Inspiration also helps you to further define and detail your plan of action. There are many channels for inspiration. The most obvious is education, whether it is motivational material to keep you on your path or gaining more specific knowledge to achieve your success. Education may be reading books, magazines, and journals, taking workshops and classes, listening to tapes/CDs, and watching videos that provides motivation tips in the area of your goal. You become what you study, so expose your mind to anything and everything that adds to the achievement of your success.

Also, include educational and motivational materials that will help you after your success is achieved. Currently, you are in “the process”. Once you’ve achieved your goal, you need to already have the knowledge and motivation to use the success in a positive manner and keep it moving forward.

The people that surround you influence your path, your attitude, your determination, your belief, your inspiration, and the outcome of your success. You should surround yourself with people who share your positive vision and desire to achieve your goal. Otherwise, you may be eliminating your success through the power of association. Associations could mean being around the people who can help you become successful. Donald Trump did just this. He associated with those people, whom he wanted to emulate and who could assist his success. Now, you may not after that type of success; however, associations still impact your goals. Here’s an example.

Darren used to be an alcoholic. After he hit bottom, he went into rehab and cleaned up his life. He joined Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and tried to convince his wife to join Al-Anon, an arm of AA that helps spouses of alcoholics to eliminate all of their “old habits” they developed over the years to cope with the alcoholism (however, they also trigger a recovering alcoholic’s past habits, as well). She refused any type of counseling and, at every opportunity, would “push Darren’s buttons”. Having difficulty retaining his sobriety under his wife’s subconscious attempts to return to her comfort zone (though it was detrimental to her well-being, since Darren was physically abusive when drunk), Darren eventually divorced his wife. He’s now been sober and happily remarried to a supporting spouse for many years.

One of the most supporting and inspirational tools to achieve success is to have a hero. Oprah Winfrey, talk show host, once told Barbara Walters, renowned interviewer and newscaster, that, if it were not for Ms. Walters, she wouldn’t be where she is today. This is a wonderful example of using a hero to achieve. The great thing about emulating heroes is that they can be living, dead or even fictitious.

Finding a hero (or heroine) to emulate gives you many achievement advantages. That person is already the success you seek. Learn all you can about them. If possible, take them to lunch and interview them. Find out what they purposefully did to achieve. What could they have done differently to speed up the process to success? Have photos of this person all around your living space and on your desk at work. Keep a list of the person’s traits that you wish to emulate, and incorporate them and anything that helped your hero to achieve into your plan of action.

Look around you. There are many sources of inspiration for you to draw upon. The more inspired you get, the more likely you will strive to achieve your life goals.

7 Ways To Overcome Procrastination

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

Are you a victim of laziness, a root cause of procrastination? Do you often suffer because of what you initially considered as easy has turned difficult with the loss of time, and what appeared hard, due to further delay, has become impossible now?

You may draw comfort from the fact that you are in the company of many that are affected by procrastination. But you must realize that you must get rid of your laziness by shaking yourself up into action if you want to improve personal life. Like many others, you can indeed stop procrastinating and start meeting deadlines, by following a few simple steps that teach you effective time management.

1. Plan your daily must-do activities. Draw up a to-do list; preferably, write it down on paper; or, use a computer if you prefer.

2. Prioritize the activities, the more important ones taking precedence over the less important. If there are urgent things to do, but not important enough to be worried about if not done, put them below the important ones. The idea is based on the established principle that 80% of rewards accrue from 20% of effort directed towards accomplishing important work.

3. Estimate the time required for each of the listed activities after analyzing their complexity. Avoid underestimation, as you may not have enough time to do well a particular of piece of work. Similarly, avoid overestimation, for that may leave some activities without enough time. A realistic budgeting of time is a must. Time management is a skill that is acquired with experience. So keep reviewing and revising your time schedule as you progress.

4. Organize your life. That will help you stop wasting away the time available for you to complete your work. Remember indiscipline causes confusion, even chaos, in life. It eats into your time. Avoid sloppiness. For instance, leave your personal belongings of daily use, like your glasses, your clothing, your computer etc., in the same place. When you do that, you save time looking everywhere for them each morning. Apply the principle of doing work first and then taking time for pleasure and relaxation. Reverse the order only at the pain of falling prey to procrastination. You can get time for rest and relaxation if you are efficient in doing your assigned work.

5. Start working bit by bit. You may see a mountain at first, but mountains can be moved, especially if you begin by moving just a small stone from it. You know you can’t move the whole mountain within a short period of time. Don’t get overwhelmed just because the task before you is daunting. That will put you off. And you will put off the task for another day, which will never come. Just begin by taking one small step and you will see your efforts at improving life pay off.

6. Put first things first early in the day. Remember that procrastination grow inti a habit by the minute. When you start your day, launch yourself into the most important job waiting to be done.

7. Learn to cope with anxiety, depression, stress and other similar conditions of the mind related to your problems in life. Keep yourself fit, not just physically but mentally as well. Learn and practice suitable mental relaxation techniques such as meditation.

You probably let procrastination without realizing it but by practicing the above steps, you will be able to slip out of it before you know it. Don’t let your life rot away due to procrastination.

My Personal Priorities For Improvement In 2010

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

I want you to know that there’s no better time than to get excited about your life and goals - not because it’s going to turn 2010, it’s simply because today is always the best time.

There are 5 areas of life and self improvement that I would seek to improve - health, relationship, spirituality, financial wealth and personal growth. None of them are at a higher priority than the others as they’re all holistically balanced to create the right combination of success in life.

It’s a fact that if you don’t have financial wealth, your life could be slightly ‘inconvenient’. If you gonna give me the lecture that the monks and priests live happily ever after without seeking wealth, then I’m not going to argue with you. But look - you’re no monk or priest so be real, nothing to be embarrassed of.

Money is never evil. It’s a big wrong myth that rich people are arrogant, greedy or selfish and as a matter of fact, most of them are the opposite. So I would suggest you to make your goal settings in 2010 to get to know some millionaires and rich people to learn what their secrets to wealth are. Who knows - they might even pass you some opportunities you can work together with them.

If you think you’re poor today, it’s because you ‘choose’ to become this way by your acts and thoughts. Same thing - if you’re rich, it’s because the way how you act upon opportunities and think of positive outcomes. I know it’s hard to believe but would you believe me that I’ve received emails regularly asking me to send them money because they believe in Law of Attraction and want the Universe to do this for them? No wonder they’re broke and poor because they don’t take responsibility to for their own future. People just don’t understand how Law of Attraction actually works.

Look - you have to work for your own success. If you’re smart, you buy some courses or attend seminars to uncover the shortcuts or just take the long road by testing out on your own. Your choice. Both ways are fine and both still require work. In 2010, I’ll be focusing more on the concept of multiple income streams (MSI). Now, MSI does not means that you got to have different kinds of income streams - it simply means you have more income streams. For instance, I will create income streams from offline publication books, seminars with other speakers and so on. So focus on what you already have or doing very well, then ‘branch’ out from there.

The other 2 important areas that are usually missed out when someone pursue the goal of attaining financial wealth is relationship and health. My friend, time flies very fast. Within a blink of an eye, you’ll see your children already grown up or your folks getting old. So cherish what you have now because by end of the day, your success is actually measured by the relationship that you have - not the money in your bank account. I’ve experience this from the sad and happy angle, when my Grandma passed away and also, seeing my baby girl growing right now in 2009.

Health? Put it this way, you can’t enjoy spending your money earned if you don’t have the body and mind to enjoy it. But I can tell you this - don’t be a health freak and miss out the joy of life. I mean, don’t eat cheese burger every day but hey, don’t torture yourself of not eating that because you’re worried that you’re going to get heart attack or something. Life is rather short, so enjoy your food but just don’t go extreme. Dude, I’m not asking you to take drugs, it’s a cheese burger for Pete’s sake.

One more thing about health - if you can afford it, do take supplements especially those green stuff supplements. Our food and environment are getting worse so you need whatever ‘effortless’ thing to give you the edge to stay focus, energetic and vibrant when you’re on track to success.

Spirituality comes from within. Whether it’s your connection to your inner voice, your God, Law of Attraction or others, it gives you the harmony and peace in your mind. You need that. You’ve seen and heard of stories people ‘let go’ of everything and pursue a greater goal because they have aligned with their spirituality part and ultimately, it leads to happiness. My point? Spirituality leads to happiness. Funny thing is, our ultimate goal is seek happiness but you don’t see people going to seminars on how to be happy because it seems like money makes them happy and so on. The truth… happiness is obtain when you’re grateful with what you have and understands that you have a beautiful life - regardless of who you are.

And lastly, I’ll be seeking for more personal growth in 2010. Personal growth is about enriching your experience and expanding your knowledge. You see, the only thing that does not change is Change itself. So if you want to transform yourself into a better person in any positive angle, then I highly suggest you to uncover many more secrets to personal growth that you are still unaware of. Whether you attend self help seminars more often, listen to success achievement audios or read more self improvement blog whenever you have time, it’s your own responsibility to continue ‘upgrading’ yourself. No one’s going to motivate you or give you the cutting edge strategies for success - you got to seek that out for yourself because, again, it’s your life.

One more thing - stop telling people about your sad story or TELLING YOURSELF, get over that and start thinking how you can reach your goals (but please, not by asking the Universe to give you money). You might think it’s easy for me to say this today because I’m ‘Patric Chan’ or any of those craps… think again, bucko. I used to be in the exact shoes too and I believe so do Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Jack Canfield, Anthony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki and all of those gurus you admire and look highly upon at. So in all fairness, I think if you start taking full responsibility for your life and create the eagerness to be far more supreme than where you are right now, you ‘Chan’ do it. I believe.

All the best,

Patric Chan

Decoding A Champion’s Mindset

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

How many times did you hear a true champion speak with doubt? How many times did you hear a boxer say, “It will be a tough fight, we will just have to wait until Saturday and see how it all works out”? Never, because doubt will knock you out before you even begin.

The athletes that are remembered are always those that performed memorably during times of pressure. I say memorably because they could be remembered for choking or rising to the occasion. Anyone who has played competitive sports knows that there is a different feeling during a play-off game, but as with all things in life, that by itself is not a bad thing, it is all in the way you handle it.

People are disturbed not by things but by the view they take of them– Epictetus 200AD

If you let self-doubt enter your mind, anxiety is sure to grow. Once you start to doubt whether you are capable of winning you’re on your way to disaster because the mind can only hold one thought at a time. You are either thinking of winning, and visualizing what winning will be like, or you are worrying about what happens if you don’t win. You can only hold one picture at a time. Sure some athletes waver back and forth, but at any given time you can only be holding one thought.

What the mind sees, feels, and thinks, it works towards. The mind needs to be given direction and then it works towards making that given destination a reality. The mind is constantly working towards results, the trouble is what directions are we giving the mind. When you learn how to control your mind, greatness is achievable. Learning how to think like a winner is the first step towards better personal motivation.

To Become a champion, you must first look and act like a champion. — Muhammad Ali

Some people say you cannot control what comes into your mind. I believe with the proper training you can. Regardless of whether or not you can or cannot control what enters your mind, you can definitely control how long you hold any thought that does enter your mind. If a seagull decides to have a bowel movement while flying overhead, you cannot exactly control that but you sure the heck can control how quickly you clean yourself off.

It is the same with your mind. When a negative thought enters, clean it out with a flood of positive images. Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want. Focus on winning, not on not losing. Begin to daydream, make this daydream the ideal outcome. Not what you will settle for, but what would be perfect.

There are many courses and books on motivation techniques to help you with this.

It’s not what you are that holds you back, it’s what you think you are not. — Denis Waitley

Motivation in Your Personal Life

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

So many of us are demotivated to achieve anything. Such people are not enthusiastic about anything. They don’t want to work towards any goal. Nothing motivates them to work. They don’t personal motivation. Why is it so? Why many of us are not motivated? What is wrong?

We think in different ways and our thinking is decided by many factors. Some are known and some are unknown. The known factors are – thinking, circumstances, early upbringing, living style, culture, family support, friends, own intelligence etc. Our thoughts and our mental makeup is also decided by many factors that are yet not known. Two persons of similar upbringing may be facing similar situation, but react in opposite ways? there are so many whys about the human mind that it is very difficult to determine about what may happen.

Coming back to the central question – why are some of us totally demotivated? There is no easy answer. Can anything be done to propel such people towards work? Can one do anything to make them enthusiastitic about anything, so that they begin working towards it?

Well, there are some useful motivation tips.

Take your own example. You are motivated to do one thing, but totally demotivated by something else. A mathematician may get very excited looking at a Math problem, but remain unaffected by the greatest pieces of music? Why? The musician acts exactly opposite, or may get equally excited by maths problem and music. Why? Our mind is a complex structure, about which we ourselves don’t know much. How many of us can claim to know about their own mind? They may know about thier abilities and disabilities, their likes and dislikes, etc. but can they predict about their own reaction in a situation? very difficult.

One has to find one’s own answers in such situations. One has to reflect himself/herself and decide about the action that can be taken to break the unmotivated state. Friends, family and even medical science can help one to a certain extent, but the final destination has to be reached by the person on his/her own.

If at anytime, you notice that a friend of yours is getting demotivated about life, try to inspire him/her as much as you can. Even if you are physically away from your friend you can send him inspirational ecards and tell him to download motivational screensavers and wallpapers. So motivate everyone who needs the boost.

Building High Self Esteem

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

Every year, awards such as the Grammies and the oscars are given to actors, directors and producers for films and shows that have entertained the general public. Ever noticed that those who receive awards always thank their folks for helping them become the folks they are today?

The rationale why these folks are always given gratitude is usually because if not for the tough work and the values that were bestowed, it’d be impossible for that individual to become one of the brightest stars in Hollywood.

This proves that not only are good looks passed on, self-esteem and confidence are also imparted.

There are lots of paths to build high self-esteem. While others use self help tools manufactured by consultants or attend analysis sessions, occasionally the only thing the person should do is believe in oneself.

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Someone will have a coarse idea how he is good in some things and not in others. People who have a present in something should make the most out of it at the same time, working on those that need a little improvement to become somebody better.

“Life is an excursion, not a destination and no one can tell what tomorrow brings”, like what Aerosmith said in their song. Yes, people awaken to a new day. Regardless of how bad the previous day was, we are able to always start over and learn from the errors of the past.

Taking risks is an element of building high self-esteem. The possibilities of succeeding in whatever you pursue is bigger if you have a clear vision of what you want to realize. This is a ton better than waiting to see what occurs.

Thinking positive is also another factor in building high self esteem. Life is a risk though being optimistic of the result in regardless of the person wants to follow may increase the probabilities of success rather than failure.

Like how oldsters can convey high self esteem to a kid, it may also be imparted to others. A person becomes an idol by having a good working perspective, and therefore, galvanizing people to follow his lead.

Treating everyone with respect is one way to do this. Whether a person is a manager or a janitor, it is irrelevant. In the end, everyone is the same.

It is straightforward for folk to see if somebody is confident. The aura of a person who confidently enters a room with a grin and firm handshake is something everyone should have.

Confident people aren’t born. These individuals are made. One of the qualities that make a good leader is being able to talk and on occassion , also listen. There are things that folks are not aware about and having the ability to learn something new from others is often a good thing.

No person is the center of the universe; rather, the world is the center of each person’s universe. It is important to be delicate to the needs of others and have the facility to adapt. Success starts by practicing these every day, and charisma is the sum total of it all.

Building Self-Image In AChild: A Parent’s Task

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

Having the ability to have kids is a present. Simply feeding and clothing is not enough because these are just some of the things that parents will be doing to help she grow up.

One of the most important jobs of parents is to be in a position to build self-image in a child. This can allow the person to achieve success in the future without regard for the career selected.

Since children look up to the parents as idols, it is only best to start from the very top. Many of these people have to work as a living to put food on the table. It’s always best to say something positive about work when the youngsters are present to give them the same outlook in school.

In the same manner, when parents help the children with the homework, it is perfectly all right to help do some of it to make the person understand and then let the kid work on the rest. This could be double check later on to ensure the rest of the assignment is correct that will surely pay off when the report card comes in.

Studies have shown that getting a child into sports can also help build self worth. It would not hurt to try something new like soccer or basketball which are team sports which will foster teamwork and friendship.

Buying a mini court or a goal and having this installed at home is perfect if the kid isn’t doing as well as others. Playing with the kids and having a great time at the same time may be the extra practice that’s required for the player to do better in the game.

Not everyone excels in sports. It is a good thing there are more talents the child can participate in to raise self esteem. There are art classes and music lessons. The kid has to start somewhere and who knows, this should be the person’s enthusiasm in the future.

There’s another way to boost the child’s self confidence. This involves doing something that has never been done before while spending some special time. Ladies could bake, while the men could go biking or hiking in the woods.

There are risks concerned in this activities, though. The point is, the child won’t know what will occur without trying and part of self image is being able to take a chance and becoming a more rounded person regardless of what occurs in the final analysis.

When this has been developed, this is the time that the child should be allowed to make some choices. with no regard for the outcome, oldsters should be supportive while offering knowledge and caution in the process.

Of course , there are risks worth taking and there are others that aren’t worthwhile. One crucial life lesson is in knowing the difference between wrong and right and weighing the results.

Enhancing akid’s Self-Esteem: Some Tips that might Help

Posted: under Self Help and Motivational.

Parents are awfully powerful figures in the life of any kid. First of all, they are in charge of conceiving the child and for bringing that child into this world so everything that comes after there will still be held rather responsible. While fathers deal with the more effective side of raising children, mothers have a special emotional connection to her offspring.

A perfect relationship between parents and kids will be when the parents are role models of providing love and support in the family while the children are obedient but to a certain degree also independent in living their lives. In this world however there’s no such thing as perfect but this shouldn’t stop us from making an attempt to build an ideal relationship.

There can always be a healthy compromise but the most important thing that folks should remember is that the times when the children are still young is the single time they can make the biggest impact. The youngsters are innately obedient and loving towards their parents so it is up to the parents to use this advantage in impressing good things to their children so they grow up to be good and powerful willed individuals.

One thing that parents can help a kid build is their youngsters’s self esteem. Parents should know that they have both the power to build and damage their kids’s self esteem, depending on how they go about it. By helping their youngsters in aspects like educational and social factors, parents can make a contribution to their children’s positive feelings of self-worth. Let us look some tips that may help the folks out there to build their children’s self-worth.

Your kid will feel special with relentless and sincere appreciation. Most parents have a tendency to only communicate with their kids if they need something from them or if they need to correct them in whatever they do. This practice must be avoided. Parents should talk to their children and speak about the good things they’ve done and achieved.

Ensure that whatever you assert is sincere and appropriate. Overpraising can end up in negative results, so don’t overdo it. When commenting on something negative, phrase it in a positive form, instead of sounding judgmental.

Your kids may not be mature but they know when they’re simply being corrected without explanation. To make certain that certain situations don’t happen again, work with your kids to find a solution.

For children with learning incapacities, parents need to work closely with teachers to make her environment more conducive to learning. All these things aren’t full proof shields against possible crushing of self worth but it’ll help them deal with the harsh facts of like with a perspective that they are hard and can meet challenges head on. They may fail but they’ll get back on their feet faster than everybody else.
