netboy1 asked: Hi!!
I’m having a problem with trying out self improvement books or seeking professional help. Most of the times I end up more confused than ever. Each individual has a different idea of what is to lead to “happiness” and “confidence” .
I don’t want to spend my entire life on this. I already spent like 4 years trying to “improve” only to find out I’m as confused or more confused than at the beginning.
Should I just forget about all that and try to enjoy life now even with my limitations and forget about fighting my “shyness” and all that sort of stuff?
thanks!

Gods Son asked: Love to read. Always looking for new books. I love books based on self-improvement, hidden historical truths, and mentality books. Some examples are Soul On Ice, Art of War, Democracy Matters. Books specifically targeted towards the urban audience. Any websites or books you all recommend. Even though I am looking for urban based books, anyone can recommend. Some of the most intellectual people that i have ever met were my White college professors that were obsessed with African-American History. Also, even if you have some suggestions on anything outside of that would be great. We all take shorts when one race doesnt know about the other one’s culture, ignorance swoops down like a vulture. God bless

I have a dilemma. OK, so I’m eighteen and over the past month or so I have become a lot more comfortable being myself. So far my attitude has improved drastically and. I’m becoming way more feminine. But within my self-improvement and becoming woman is where the problem lies. I truly adore the 1920’s - 1950’s pin-up girl era. Do not misinterpret this as me being shallow, talking about clothes etc. To me it’s so much more than clothes. It’s almost like a way of life. There is no other way that I can put it simply than by saying . . . think of it in terms of role models. I love Dita Von Teese. I love what she does and how she looks. The way she represents that era, the style, the attitude . . . she as a person inspires me. But I’m almost terrified that no one will accept me for it. Especially where I live, some people are going to say things like “first she wants to be the black rock chick and now she’s acting like Lucy ball or something.” I just need some advice to stay strong.

Preferably a 3-6 month martial arts/mental strength training facility. Something so physically and mentally demanding that it would produce a SIGNIFICANT change in my personal habits and self-discipline. I’m in my mid-30s, lazy, and can’t put together enough consistent effort to achieve anything worthwhile. Time is running out. A potentially meaningful life is being wasted. I need radical change and I need it now.

Lakely asked: I was reminded in a previous question that many Christians look at self-improvement as a secular thing.
But isn’t that what the Sermon on the Mount was all about??? More on my bio.
